- Dr. Swanson was born and raised in the Stafford/Fredericksburg area. He has an extensive history in the dental field, working in the family business as a dental lab technician all through high school and college, and then as a dental assistant, working throughout his collegiate career.Dr. Swanson is an alumnus of Brooke Point High School in Stafford County, Virginia. He completed his undergraduate education at Virginia Tech, where he earned a BS in Biology. He then continued his education at The University of Louisville School of Dentistry in Louisville, KY, for four years.Dr. Swanson has been married to his high school sweetheart, Melissa, since 2004. They have a son, Fate, and two daughters, Scarlett and Savannah. The entire family are all huge Hokie football fans (Go Hokies!).Dr. Swanson remains committed to staying up-to-date with the latest practices, materials, and technology in the ever-evolving field of dentistry. With this in mind, Dr. Swanson maintains a rigorous schedule of continuing education, giving him advanced skills in areas such as orthodontics, sedation dentistry, implants, and cosmetics. In addition, he maintains membership in such organizations as the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentists, the Richmond Dental Society, Spear Education, DOCS Education, and the United States Dental Institute.Dr. Swanson has also volunteered his time and expertise in Mission of Mercy (MOM) projects, serving the disadvantaged throughout the state of Virginia since 2004. He has been dedicated to working with a great group of doctors as a part of the Denture Team, and now leads the Partial Denture Team for the Virginia MOM Projects.

I have hated going to the dentist for a lot of reasons and put it off and off. I finally did my research and found Dr. Swanson and the advances in techniques along with the compassion care that Dr. Swanson and his staff to be beyond my expectations. I highly recommend this dental practice!

The doctor, assistant and hygienist were all great, very gentle and detailed. They took the time to explain everything to me. Will definitely be back and would recommend them to others.

The staff are all very friendly and informative from the front desk to all of their amazing hygenists! Not to mention it s lighter feel than other practices, the music is great everyone is friendly and seems to enjoy working there. Dr. Swanson always is up front and honest about any treatment I might need and they always give me an estimate on anything I need as well. Love this office!

Provided by Doctor.comMy experience with Dr. Swanson was amazing. I had a full mouth restoration with porcelain crowns. His patience, professionalism and expertise resulted in giving me a beautiful smile. Prior to finding Dr. Swanson, I didn't smile much. Most of the time, I didn't even want to speak to others for fear they would see the condition of my teeth. NOW....I smile all the time and speak to everyone! His staff is personable and friendly and make you feel comfortable and at home.

Provided by Doctor.comI was in for a filling on a tooth that had major decay. He went ahead and filled it although it was in a very difficult spot. He did it with a completely different material they had originally quoted me for, because in the long run it was going to be best for my dental health. I am very happy with the outcome of the tooth. Loved the atmosphere and everyone in the office was very sweet.
