The Penny Flat

I called the Flat Penny a week before New Year's to make a reservation for New Years Day.The woman I talked to said that The Flat Penny would be open for their regular hours on New years Day and that I was all set for 5'clock that day. To my surprise when my husband and I arrived at the Flat Penny on New Years Day the whole restaurant was closed! Don't make reservations at The Flat Penny unless you want your time and your gas money wasted.

Wonderful place to go. Nice a cozy and great food.

Word to the wise....Don't ever go to The Flat Penny in Berlin. WORST service ever and we actually watched the manager yell at a customer for being upset about waiting for over an hour for their food. I've never seen anything like it in my life. I would never go back there ever. Any place that treats their customers the way they do , doesn't deserve to be in business. mended because

They are now open for dinner ! We went there last night and the waitress and owner were very nice and the place has been perfectly renovated. However, they need to work out the 'kinks' with the kitchen - they seemed to be overwhelmed. The waitress took down the right order, but we did not get what we asked for. Paid extra for onion rings, got fries. Asked for extra salad dressing, did not get it. Prime rib special was unappealing (garnished with dried parsley) overcooked and flavorless. The only other disconcerting part was that the waitresses were 'fighting' over tables in front of the customers - not too professional. All in all, will try it again because as I mentioned, they JUST started serving dinner and it was busy. Fried items were hot & fresh. Definitely worth another shot. Not much else out in that area. Hope they get their act together.

What a great experience we had at the Penny, Great food ,great service, the staff was so nice. The owners and mgnt are very nice people.When are you opening for dinner? Finally, they were kid oriented and the kids had a blast something for everyone.
